If you’re a porn fan like me, then you may have stumbled upon this term plenty of times before. However, if you’re also like me who isn’t really interested in stuff that I don’t understand, then you may not be fully aware of what this porn genre really is.
So recently, I’ve read this term again on an adult site that I visited and it piqued my interest. And that’s when I did my research about it.
According to what I found on the Web, the word “trap” is basically an internet slang for trans people or for fictional characters with appearances that seem to be inconsistent with their actual gender.
For instance, I saw a cute boy who was dressed as a girl. And man, he looked beautiful and pretty convincing. I mean, I couldn’t even tell the difference.
This term was first used by manga and anime fans on 4chan in the 2000s to refer to images of androgynous-looking male characters or femininely-dressed crossdressers.
But hey, you may want to be more careful in using this term as it is considered a derogatory word for the Transgender community these days.
What is the origin of the word “trap?”
I admit that looking for the appropriate definition of this word was pretty hard as entering it on any search engines can pull up different results such as the meaning of a trap house. And that term translates to a place where people use or trade drugs.
Moreover, I also found a music genre under this name in the hip-hop culture. Well, I learned that it only started with a reaction image that was based on a Star Wars scene where Admiral Ackbar said “It’s a trap.” The reaction image gained a lot of popularity especially on some anime hub sites like 4chan and Something Awful over a decade ago. And after that, it was known to be a term used to call crossdressers and trans people in general.
The evolution of the word trap
When I did further research, I found out that Admiral Ackbar’s quote spawned tons of parody sites that featured the soundbite of Admiral Ackbar’s quote on YTMND in 2004. And one post that went viral was that of a MultiKoopa who uploaded the post on June 2, 2005. As a matter of fact, it accumulated over 300,000 views before April 2016.
I also learned that during that time, 4Chan (a now popular hentai site) was launched. Then I guess, the term trap was somehow linked to them because of their featured photo of an anime character whose gender seems to be confusing. And probably, that’s what they called “trap.”
4chan users even continued the tradition by celebrating “Trap Thursdays.” During those events, they would describe hermaphrodite looking fiction characters as traps and it ended up as one of the longest traditions in the manga and anime genres.
When the term became widespread, Michaels V, an Urban dictionary user, updated the meaning of the word trap. He defined it as a man who dresses like a woman and is somewhat feminine and could possibly be mistaken for a woman.
On top of that, a subreddit called /r/traps was started on February 28, 2010, and since then, it had over 58,000 subscribers. The subreddit was dedicated to sharing and uploading clips and pics of youthful and beautiful crossdressers and trans girls.
Why is trap porn popular?
I became so obsessed with this topic that I tried to read every article written about it. And one of the questions that really got me was why is it popular.
In what I’ve found, at least 30% of Futanari porn fans have masturbated on trap materials plenty of times. Although most of them don’t really have a thing for traps, they said that the crossdressers looked female enough to trick their mind into thinking that they’re actually girls.
Also, some individuals who jerk off to trap content usually watch the most outrageous and unthinkable scenes ever saying that it helps them get off quicker.
I’m not sure if you’ve heard of trap porn or have ever used the term before, I guess it’s true that the stranger the porn is, the more intriguing it gets. And maybe that’s why this became a popular porn niche.
